Maybe This Week Will Be Better Than Last

So a week ago today I was chillin' in Malibu. Sippin' on a Corona. Listening to the ocean. Now, here I sit, thinking of ways to save enough money to get me out there for a while. Depressing.

It wouldn't be so bad, but I came back to one of the crappiest weeks ever. Work majorly sucked. Deadlines galore and the usual drama. And the raise that I've been promised for four months still hasn't gone through. Which is the only thing that will get me to the West coast.

I hadn't slept in weeks, it seemed, so that made it worse. And you know how when you get back from a big trip, you just want to chill? Not this time. I had a going away sangria party for Aaron, the high school crush that I should've let sweep me away, time and time again. Probably one of the saddest goodbyes ever, seeing as we've been close for years and the other night he was telling me we'd never see each other again. And of course, I couldn't even speak the words that needed to be spoken, because I suck at that. Fun times.

I did get to work on editing a friend's book one night, so that was a cool thing. I'm actually going to be an official editor! Except that I don't sleep these days so I'm not thinking my sharpest. Maybe the wine had something to do with it...

Anyway, oddly enough, this is probably one of my first "you guys are not going to give a shit about what's going on with me personally" posts. And that's okay. I really don't give a flip if you care or not. I just feel better now that it's out.

And if you do care and want to do something about it, take me out for drinks. That's usually all it takes. (Does anyone know where you can find a good Mojito in Nashvegas?) And if you're a Democrat, maybe we can even have a religious debate, since I just brushed up my skills last week while watching the Pope's funeral, live, in the middle of the freakin' night.

rough weeks suck, especially after time spent in the element you'd rather be in. it happens to me every time i have a show that goes well one nite, only to come back workin' for the man the next morning. i assure you that it will get better, although it's possible that it will get worse beforehand.

i think the best mojito is the one you make it home. you can control your alcohol input, always making it better.

i'm thinking of trying absinthe. if degas, oscar wilde, picasso and hemingway liked it, why not?

There's a CSI episode about absinthe. Angelina Jolie's brother is in it.

I sense an upcoming Saturday night at Virago in the next couple of weeks. Show up, and I'll have Gary serve you up some drinks on me.
