A Mystery To Be Solved

So I'm wearing the same chucks these days that I wore in college. Black ones. And they always make my feet happy. Although after years and years of going through red ones, purple ones, and a couple pairs of black ones, I just noticed something I've never noticed before. So now I'm wondering if it's on all of them, or if mine are just rejects. (Though I'll still love them just the same).

Kind of hard to explain, but look where the rubber part comes up over your toes, and where the two side pieces (that the laces go through) meet the sole. Well, one of mine just has normal white threads going along the edge of the side pieces up to that point. But the other has the white threads making a square design on each side. So basically, one shoe has squares sewn into in, one does not.

Is this some symbol of authenticity? Or did I get the defects? Or...have I just gone mad?

    A couple questions/comments/thoughts:
    1) Why are you looking that closely at your damn shoes?
    2) Does anybody care about your shoes? heehee, not to be mean
    3) I've never worn chucks and never plan to
    4) I thought you were so busy that you can barley answer your phone
    5) I don't think you really have a job that takes up your life
    6) You must really hate Tennessee if all you do is look at shoes all day
    7) This is what you get for not calling me back.... ha

Because staring at my shoes is what I'm going to do at work every day until they f***ing give me my money.
