Thomas Jefferson...or Dr. Emmett Brown?

Okay, enough about blogging. I'm getting nauseous. I don't even want to say (or type) the b-word for a very long time. It's just the whole BlogNashville thing, ya know?

Now, time to get back to the fun reality of my life.

Not that a political party hosted by Bruce Barry, Vanderbilt professor and author of Nashville Scene's Pith in the Wind, is my reality, but that's where I ended up on Saturday night. Invited by Mr. Barry himself as the Nashville nightlife's... bl... bl... bl***rs, Thursday Night Fever's Mr. Roboto (click here for his take) and myself took on this highly political atmosphere with no problems whatsoever. Just because we write about the lighter side of life doesn't mean that we can't swing our bad selves through a night of liberal, radical, Democratic discussions with cultural and political activists and philosophical professors.

I'm sure the fully stocked bar helped; the Vodka Cranberries were flowing nicely. I even had a drink poured especially for me by the host himself, Thomas Jefferson (who also closely resembled a certain Doc from Back To The Future - I think it was the hair). I had the opportunity to enlighten him on the difference between a Cape Cod (lime garnish) and a Vodka Cranberry (no lime garnish). Even really smart PhD's don't know everything.

At any rate, it was a night of talking, drinking, and more talking. And then more drinking. Some new friends were made, though I'm sure some thought I was crazy. I ended up hitting it off with Nashville rock guy Will Kimbrough's wife, who was such a sweetie. Who knew that floor-board molding could bring two people together?

Then it was time for the honky-tonks so we could critique the western wear of lower Broadway.
