Blueberry Sprite

It's pretty much the best Sprite I've ever had. Go get you some at Cafe Coco. Mmmmm.

So I ended up going it alone to the Shout Out Louds/The Dears show at Exit/In on Friday. I'm not a big "go to a show alone kinda gal"...but people bailed and I wanted to see the damn show. Aside from the mahvalous music, I met some of the dudes in the bands, the owner of Rock Block Guitars, the guys from My Relationship With Gravity (who are playing this Tuesday night at The End), and got my Miller High Life hookups from my favorite bartender. Maybe I should go it alone more often...

Anyway, the Shout Out Louds were fabulous, as expected. They're sort of a twist between Wilco and Bright Eyes but with the poppiness of The Cure. And they're Swedish. So they've got the European flair going for them without even trying. A couple of their songs got a little repetitive, but they had such a great stage presence that it didn't really matter. Their songs have a tendency to have a very fun beat, but most lyrics are tragic. They pull it off, though, and their debut album, Howl Howl, Gaff Gaff is worth the twelve bucks. Simply vunderful.

The Dears were supposed to be off the hook, and indeed they were. I'm surprised the show wasn't packed out more than it was, since they only play Nashville every couple of years. Rumour has it there's some sort of vendetta going on. Ooooooo...drama! There are albums that get you to the show and there are shows that make you buy the album. I'm burning the album. Does that count?
