The Legendary Shack Shakers
Think Sid Vicious mixed with a little bit of The Dempseys. Throw in some Jerry Lee Lewis on the side and you've got The Legendary Shack Shakers. I would call in Punkabilly, some call it Psychobilly. They're currently in the midst of a European tour, so I'm not quite sure why they're swinging through Nashville, but perhaps someone should let Jack know.
Now I love live shows, but I'm not big on watching live shows on DVD. And if a two hour long, low budget (but good) video can keep my attention, then the boys on stage must be doing something right. It could've been his masochistic ways of smashing the mic into his forehead until he bled, his hilarious and disgusting charades, or maybe it was the sticking of the tongue into the box fan antics...this ain't your average Reverend Horton Heat.
If you want a crazy whack fun night (and if you regularly read this blog I know you at least vicariously do), then this is a show you have got to see. Come check out The Shack Shackers with Hillbilly Casino this Saturday night, June 4th, at Mercy Lounge on Cannery Row. Show starts at 9:30p and I would highly recommend you get your tix early. It will be a sellout.

Hey Jill, it's Tommy from over on the "writing on the wall" blog.
I wish we had good shows in Memphis, but alas, we don't. Hopefully wherever I move to will have a better music scene.
I was at the Billy Idol/Black Crowes show, but in the audience. Billy Idol was great, Black Crowes weren't so good but oh well.
And Ted Leo is going to be a great show, I can't wait.
