Not the Summer of '69
Another cynical, yet uppity interview with Pitchfork. The guy is never going to learn. Ryan, go take your lithium. Although I do still love this Gap ad picture...
Gap Print Ad - Fall 2002
And a new honky tonk record?!? I can totally dig some of that. And it'll be perfect timing, too. Cross country soundtrack, it will be. I don't know what it is, but I always have the heart to give this guy another chance.

Will he re-record Summer of '69, honky tonk style?
Of Yoda I think - 'Cross country soundtrack it will be'. Sweet.

You know what, I didn't even see the title of this post before I wrote the last comment. It's not near as funny now.

Maybe you would've noticed had I titled it, Summer of '69, It Wasn't.

i haven't read this interview yet, but the one in harp magazine seemed normal and humble enough.
i think ryan's really a much normal-er guy than he probably makes out. i DO think he's prone to meltdown moments, something he covers in the harp interview.

Yeah, hence the soft spot I have for him. I used to have a huge crush on him. I'd still marry the guy.

okay. i just finished reading the interview (damn that's long). i think that maybe i read it differently than you did. i think he sounds less like a diva than he used to. i don't know if it's because i agree with him, admire him for admitting some things (the fan interaction stuff especially) or what, but i like him a little more after reading this than i thought i might.
i'm telling ya, i've met the guy, he's not nearly as fucked up as most of his fans want him to be. is he a bit weird? sure. but is he in the left field bleachers? i don't think so.

Yes, it was a long one. And actually, I agree with you on the interview...it was probably the least cynical of his that I've read. Maybe he's learning not to act like such a bad ass, and just be. Not a bad lesson for some.

Damn! That's what happens when I read at 9:37a. I'm just not all there in the morning. My bad. I ruined it. It was a good try, though.
