I Love Cash

As in Johnny. The man in black.

I would never consider myself a modern country music fan. Keith Urban, of course, is an exception, due to the personal relationship Jag mentioned. But give me some Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline or Willie Nelson and I can have myself a toe-tappin' time.

In the weeks prior to its release, I have heard amazing reviews of Cash's biography, Walk The Line, due out this Friday. I've also seen a few clips on the tube and considering the risk of failure on such a big attempt to convey someone's story through the silver screen, it looks like they did a damn good job. I'm not even a big fan of Reese, but based on what I've seen it looks like this one is actually going to work. Maybe it's that Southern side that'll do her justice as the face of June Carter Cash.

Out here in LaLa land it means nothing to say that my friends are in a movie. So I can't really show my excitement for my boys. But let me brag for a moment. You've all heard me rave about the rockabilly antics of the Memphis-based Dempseys that can be seen from Beale Street in Memphis to Broadway in Nashville. Well, November 18th marks a special day for them...their silver screen debut as Elvis's band in Walk The Line. According to my former ghost-blogger and now long-distance-partner-in-crime Julie, they have quite a few appearances, too. Woo hoo!

Congratulations to Brad, Joe, and Ron!! It's all red carpet now, boys!!

Now...to find the LA honky tonks...

L.A. is the land of honkey tonks. You just need to know where to look.

That's great news about the Dempseys. My sister was a huge fan of theirs when she lived here in Nashville, and she eventually made the wife and I come out and see them. They put on a helluva show.

Since you are lightyears beyond me in your music knowledge, interest, etc., yours (along with Rex's) is the one opinion of this film I'm most eager to hear. Please post how you liked it.

I've got to wait until Black Friday to catch it in the theatre, so I'm living vicariously through blog reviews until then...
