The Midwesterner Returns

So the week in the land of the frozen tundra was mostly a success. Aside from the fact that I had a cold that turned into a sinus infection which then mutated into an ear infection that I'm sure will feel great on the plane ride home, good times were had.

Who knew five and a half days could fly by so fast? I even tried to change my plane ticket but learned that if you book through orbitz it's $130 just for the change, then the difference of whatever the price of the new ticket is. I was bummed. Had I booked through the airline, it would've only been $50. I would've paid it.

Me on a Frozen Lake

This was the first Christmas we (the bro, the sis and I) all flew in from different places to visit the 'rents new digs up in the mitten state. It wasn't as weird as I thought it would be and the house totally rules. It's smaller than the old one but so much cooler. I felt more at home there then I ever did at the place they called home for fourteen years in Nashvegas. It was nice to finally see it done, as I visited it this summer when it was being built.

At any rate, most of the time was spent visiting other relatives which, if you're born into my family, is always a party. After all, they are the ones who trained me. So that's always fun. I just wish we had had some more down time to just chill, though. Dad got wireless so I have been in laptop heaven. Turns out all my internet problems are due to a bad router back in LA and it'll be another thirty days before they replace it with a new one. Idiots.

Me & Sis on the Frozen Lake

We managed to spend a little time out today hiking and photo shooting on a frozen lake nearby. It was around thirty degrees and super cold but if you stay moving it keeps you pretty warm. I was surprised at how I held up. It was actually pretty invigorating.

Me & The Bro

Anyway, It's almost 1am here and I must get my rest for the many hours of travel and airports I will be facing tomorrow. I don't wanna go home. I don't know when I'll get to see the fam again. When you watch The Weather Channel from here, California is so far away.

Stay tuned for the year in review...

I miss snow. You look like a ninja in the pic on the lake. I'll bet H. was freezing her ass off with those low riders on. And what is up with K. and the car pics?

    Have a safe trip home!

So what you are saying is that there is no river of slime under the new house. Did you still have to empty the dishwasher? I am sad that it felt more like home than the Ole' St. Andrews. I bet you don't have a neighbor that has big ugly rocks in the yard. I am ready for spring to be here because winter blows! What is going on in LA for New Years? Gonna be boring here I ma sure.

Yes...he's so adorable that I still treat him like he's three years old. Now I know what a mother must feel like.
