Words of Wisdom

A dear friend of mine came to me with a wonderful teaching the other day. I was freaking out about a petty thing (I know, right?) and it was making me react in ways that I didn't want to be reacting in. This friend happens to be practicing Kabbalah (mind you, it's a moral practice, not a religion) and she offered up the most incredible advice. And it really hit me. Makes total sense.

It's called The Proactive Formula. And it goes like this:
  1. An obstacle occurs.
  2. Realize that your reaction - not the obstacle - is the real enemy.
  3. Shut down your reactive system to allow the Light in.
  4. Express your proactive nature.

The great thing about this is that it can apply to whatever religion you are. Personally, I refer to the "Light" as God and positive energy forces. But without getting too philosophical, I just thought this was a great formula to live by.

Far too often we sabotage ourselves without even knowing it. And in turn, we sabotage our relationships with whomever we are dealing. By just stopping and thinking for a minute on the points mentioned above, it could take you a long way.

And that's your random lesson for the day. Cheers.

The only thing that Sweden is good for is their music scene. ;)

I tried this and it worked! For the "light" I used Bud Light and it made my problems go away. Strangely enough I woke up the next day with a whole new set of problems, but when I applied Kabbabala it again fixed my problems! This is the best thing since asprin!

I personally am always too quick to let the light in. For example I've already flipped off the bad driver before I realize that I shouldn't have. Sometimes your middle finger is quicker than a rabbit! That said it's a good lesson. (Even if it is a weird Madonna loving philosophy/religion)

Dude. Madonna rules. I'm not kidding. Her new album is Jill's 21st birthday party Part II.

that's actually pretty insightful advice, even if it isn't terribly original on kallabah's part (the same thing is said in different words in lots of religious texts (i prefer the bible, but i'm not one to push). when i get around to it, i'll post some things from my favorite philosophy books: zen & the art of motorcycle maintenance and the prophet.

sweden also has good basketball players. i think.
