LA to Nashville & Back Again

I have so much to tell I don't even know where to begin.

...

I had another listening party to attend, this time with Neil Young. You won't like his new record if you're a Republican. Otherwise, it's very peace and love. Very Woodstock-ish.

Over the last couple weeks I've done nothing but go to parties when I'm not working. Going away parties, birthday parties, wedding parties, sex toy parties, "I'm Back In Nashville For A Minute" parties, etc. I haven't had a spare second. Don't be fooled, it's not the boyfriend who's keeping me away from you fabulous readers, it's the fact that the shenanigans are non-stop.

My Nashville trip was off the hook. I had a freakin' itinerary to make sure everything happened that was supposed to happen. So...I had my fill of The Red Door, Jackson's, Satco, Cracker Barrell, Greenhouse...all the necessities. Even went for a little drive through the country, which is one of the things I miss most. Oh, and I got to see my bro do his first standup comedy skit...it was hilarious. The only thing missing was Waffle House. I hallucinate the letters W.A.F.F.L.E. H.O.U.S.E on any yellow block letter sign I see out here.

The thing I noticed immediately about Nashville were:

  • Even when there is traffic, there's no traffic.
  • It's the greenest place on Earth. Except maybe Ireland.
  • The roads are in perfect condition.
  • The humidity makes it miserable even when it isn't that hot.
  • Construction really does last ten years.

I really wasn't missing Nashville, so I didn't really have any expectations. I was looking forward to getting out of the concrete block that I live in for a bit, couldn't wait to see my family, my friends...so that made it good to be back. But all at the same time, I thought, I'd rather be in LA. That's not to say I had a wonderful time with everyone...I can't really explain. I guess, if anything, it's even more justification that I made the right decisions.

At any rate, it was fun times. My party at Cabana was off the hook...I'm sure any one of the attenders would tell you the same thing. People were coming out of the woodwork. I felt so darn loved.

Then came this lady's wedding, which was the whole point of me being in town. There was pretty flowers, good food, guests that were ready to party, free booze, and a big ol' dance floor. My feet were in severe pain by the end of the night. But the cardio workout...a success.

Sunday night brought me back to Hollywood after a nice Nashville day with the fam. Never enough time. Monday brought me a week of work. I've been away from my man for two weeks now, as he's been out of town this week. I really really really really really am ready to see him. I miss him. Lots and lots.

if you think nashville's the greenest place on earth (outside of ireland) you really need to visit austin or hawaii or jamaica. mucho more greener.

put me in the "jealous" column about the neil young thing. of course, i'd rather him NOT see me simultaneously throw up, crap my pants and lose bladder control in his presence. probably not the best first impression, ya know?

i know you miss him and all, but remember, whenever you see him again: those things WILL break off...

That list of things you noticed about Nashville?

They can be applied to Singapore as well, especially the greeness and the humidity. That and I'd also add "Great shopping."

Something Nashvill still doesn't quite have.

    It was GREAT seeing you!

I am sure that it was better for you to see me than it was for me to see you. That is really saying something because it was pretty good to see you. Can we amke it a whole year or more between visits next time?
How about you fire over some of those pics you took, and I will do the same. I have a good one of you and your pops!
    Miss You!

I only get one paragraph? Bummer.

It was wonderful to see you. All anybody can talk about is your toast. Rad.

Send pics when you can, and I'll burn mine and send them to you. I may have to send them to your man's house or Susan's or something...since your mailbox is located in a black hole.

Sorry I missed the Cabana party, but rumor has it I'll be spending several months this summer a short drive south of L.A. I expect to spend a few weekends in the bigger city to the north and of course at least one the in country to the south. We'll have to get drinks!
