Memorial Day weekend. A weekend to remember.
As referenced in my last post, two of my favorite Memphianites came to visit me in sunny SoCal this past weekend. They've put up with my visits for years and years so I had to make this a good one. Consider it payback. I think I succeeded.
We decided to welcome them into LA by taking them for some thai food right off of Sunset Boulevard at one of our local faves, Toi. A rock n' roll to the bones joint, they ended up seating us at a table that was covered in Elvis. What are the odds?
There was alot of eating involved...El Coyote, Edendale, Kings Road Cafe, Birds, and my current favorite, Luna Park. The standards. We hit the beaches in Venice and Santa Monica...hit the bars in Silver Lake, Loz Feliz and Hollywood...
I think one of the highlights (besides my homemade white russians) was The Getty Center. Aside from the fact that we viewed Monet, Van Gogh, and Degas...the place was littered with ancient artifacts from Greek and Roman civilizations. After all these years, I find I still obsess about history. The outer grounds of the museum were possibly more impressive than the inside. Beautiful botanical gardens surrounded the premises and stretched through many paths and mazes. Surrounded by waterfalls, the view consisted of the entire city of Los Angeles and beyond that, the ocean.
At any rate, it was a weekend to fly home about. And that they did at the crack o' dawn Monday morning. I miss them already.
I spent the first half of my holiday helping my man pack up for a week of out of town business. After ensuring he was off safely (as if he needed my help doing that), I just sat in my living room. By myself. For the first time since I've lived here. And did nothing but look out the window at the palm trees. It was absolutely wonderful.
And now it's back to dogs and cats, living together. Mass hysteria.

Ha. That's why we're such a good team. We get it done. That's what rock n roll is all about, right? ;)

Hey babe! Awesome write up...I was meaning to put something up myself, but had forgotten all the names of places. Thanks!
We'll call your place the up-torn hawthorne (or insert your own play on riot hyatt- that one was only so so). Seriously just send us the bill we'll pay for the damage.
