What Weekend?

Friday night brought dinner and drinks at Boneyard Bistro on Ventura out in the Valley with a couple that I've never met. They happened to be visiting from Nashville and got engaged this past week. You may have heard of them. She's of the Rage and he's of the Tennessean.

Thanks to this guy for putting them in touch with me, because man, did we have a good time. It was like dinner with old friends. Funny how that happens, right? The food was ridiculously dee-lish and the wine was flowing, along with the endless appetizers and desserts that kept on making their way to our table. We ate until we couldn't eat anymore. I even tried kangaroo. When you have all that in the midst of exceptionally cool company, it makes for fun times, indeed.

Getting Saturday morning to move quickly was like trying to fall asleep on Christmas Eve as a kid. My guy was going to be home later that day after two weeks of being out of town and all I wanted to do was see him. And give him his birthday presents. Because I knew he would love them.

And he did. And after all the hugs, about a million I love you's and then thank you's (for the gifts that he absolutely loved) we went on a dinner excursion to Pasadena. We ended up at Mi Piace on Colorado along next to the other hundred restaurant choices you have there. It was the trendy, upscale yet retro vibe that drew us in. And the fact that we were craving Italian. We were greeted by one of the coolest chick bartenders ever and the cosmopolitans were off the hook.
The food could've been excellent, except that it took over an hour to actually arrive. Our server checked on us not once, except to bring the bill. We were there for about two hours, spent alot of money, and she spoke to us twice; once to take the order and once to bring the food. Have I mentioned this was an upscale, not insanely busy place? Bad service is usually one thing that I'm fairly patient about, but this was awful.
It was only the White Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory that put smiles back on our faces. Mmmm...

        Sunday
was spent just north of Santa Monica at the beach for my bud's birthday celebration relaxation. The plan...to sit and bask in the sun, listen to the waves crash against the shore, and maybe even take a beach nap. Which is exactly what we did. The water was a bit too cold to play in for such a mild day so we didn't get to play in the waves, but we did witness the building of the biggest sandcastle ever. Even had some chocolate chip cookies for a nice late afternoon treat.

And such was the blur of a weekend I had.

Hey, pretty girl. We had SO much fun with you!!! Who cares if we had never met -- when you meet somebody you really, really like, you just know it. Look tomorrow night for our take on the evening. Love from Nashville!
