Uncle Tom & The Would Be In-Laws

Wouldn't that be a great band name?

*****

I don't even know where to begin. So much has been happening over the past week and a half it's been a whirlwind. What else is new, right?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!!!

I guess I'll start off with the Tom Petty concert last Tuesday. So, I've seen the guy four times now. Three times in Nashville...one time in Los Angeles. And I'll tell you the big difference between the two: Stevie Nicks and Jeff Lynn.

Yes, that's right. Not only did Stevie Nicks come out and do the infamous duets, Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and Insider (among other BGV's and a solo performance of I Need To Know), but Jeff Lynn (producer and member of The Traveling Wilburys) stopped by for a surprise perfomance of Handle With Care. Hello, once in a lifetime opportunity. And Uncle Tom rocked in his usual way, being the bad ass that he is.

On Friday, I ended up way out in Omaha, NE to meet the would-be in-laws and celebrate a wedding in a castle. After a full day of travel across the US, we strolled into the rehearsal dinner, fashionably late, of course. I quickly made friends with the bartender and started on the Cosmopolitans right away. Five drinks later, we found ourselves in a very crowded hotel room eating cheese and drinking lots of wine. And I mean lots...it went down like juice.

Later, the next day...

I strolled onto the castle properties dressed in my 50's glam garb. Little black, polkadot dress, red heels, and a red shawl. After more drinks and a few appetizers, the ceremony went on, flawless as any other. The sitdown dinner was fabulous and the dancing was even better. Aside from the fact that my feet were about to bleed and that our DJ resembled a cross between Screech and Egon, me and the man took over the dance floor. Whipping me around like I was a feather (and telling me that I was too spunky to lead), we resembled a young couple at a 50's dance. Or is it 40's? Not sure, but the videographer wouldn't leave us alone. I think I ended up with negative calories for that day. And sore biceps the next.

The rest of the trip was full of delicious, homecooked meals, naptimes, and card playing. I actually reached the point of relaxation, if I remember it correctly.

This week I've spent recovering from dehydration and gearing up for Season 2, Episode 3 of Grey's Anatomy tonight...featuring Regina Spektor's hit song, Fidelity.

(Sidenote: In case you miss an episode, you can watch the entire thing ONLINE...for FREE!!)

Beginning tomorrow, it will be back to madness (with a lil' bit of Nashville/San Diego mixed in), once again. Stay tuned.
