Furball, Purrball

After years and years of wanting a friendly feline of my own, my wish finally came through last weekend. As part of my Christmas present, my boyfriend bought me a kitten. On January 20, 2007, I became the proud Mommy of my little tabby guy. What's his name, you ask? Well...I'm having a bit of a problem making a decision on that, so that'll come later.

I'm a believer in animal rescue and when I ran across a veterinary clinic in Manhattan Beach that supports The Peter Zippi Fund For Animals, I kept in touch. It was just a matter of finding the perfect one. And that, my friends, seems to be what we did. I am terribly attached already...he won my heart over the second I held him. Unlike many cats, he's very social and friendly and will boldly go where no cat has gone before.

He's three months old and as precious as anything. He is the biggest snuggler I've ever met. One of his favorites is taking cat naps (he already takes after me!) cuddled up to me and purring his little head off. At playtime, he does the typical kitty things and makes me laugh hysterically. I don't know where they come up with their moves, but it's so freakin' funny.

On the other hand, this whole pet thing is giving me a teeny tiny glimpse of what it must be like to have a child. I've never had a pet before, so while the responsibilities I now have are not challenging, they are definitely an awakening to the "selfish" life I was living before. Not that I was especially "all about myself", but those of you who have animals know what I mean.

Now...I am counting down the hours where I can go home and spend time with my little furball!! Because he's just so darn cute.
