Crunken Memories Reflected Upon
Before Julie and I started traveling the South, we had the pleasure of working at a record label together. After we met, we quickly realized that we were two peas in a pod, so we would use our goofball sense of humor to get through the rough spots.
I realize that the term "crunk" is not as cool as it was two years ago (sorry TNF), however, it was one of our fave words for a while. It would always get us laughing, no matter what the woe of the day was. Maybe because it was a good reminder of our ever-crazy adventures.
As I was cleaning out my desk today (as in straightening up, not emptying), I found an article that she brought over to me one day after obtaining it in a marketing meeting. It made me laugh, so I thought I'd share: Crunk, which is the hottest rap genre out there right now [circa 2003], is best described as the Southern hip-hop
equivalent of punk rock. According to the Urban Dictionary, the term "crunk" has various meanings, such as "get hyped", "get @$#&ed up", and "get drunk", and the musical genre of crunk projects connotes actions. The music is characterized by heavy bass, chanting, call and response hooks, and a raw, energizing, anthemic sound. Most of it is quite dissonant as to reflect the South's problems with poverty, poor education, and racial issues. The most famous crunk musician right now [again, circa 2003] is Lil Jon, who's also known as the "King of Crunk". (Youth Intelligence; December 2003)

So anyway, then I got all mushy about all the fun times we've had and how they may soon become a rarity*. So, in tribute to all our crunken times and crazy road trips, I leave you with these pics that, to me, translate the essence of our friendship perfectly.
Here's to the good times. Yeeee-aaaaaaaah.
*The mystery of my top secret project will be divulged on September 2, so stay tuned. I know, you're already on the edge of your office chairs, eagerly waiting in suspense.

Well it sounds like everyone just wants to have a crunken time. Not a problem.
Roboto - Apparently someone who knew what they were doing with candid shots.
MJ - Thanks for checking out the site! You'll have to email me, seeing as I don't have your address. Bust out the wakeboard for me this weekend.

Yes, it's a little town in Nevada; just beyond this dam they call Hoover. Ever hear of it?
